Artist statement

My work explores the collision of classical imagery, pop culture, fashion, graffiti, and electric light.  Drawing from my background in fashion and commercial design, I’m influenced by trends, branding, and the emotional impact of visual storytelling. I create pieces that feel both polished and raw,  balancing beauty with grit, all while capturing the restless energy of urban life.

In my work, light becomes more than illumination; it acts as a living element within each piece. Neon transforms static imagery into something emotionally charged and alive, pulling the viewer into a world where humor, irony, luxury, and rebellion coexist. Using bold color, spray paint, collage, and layered textures, I create work that feels spontaneous, electric, and unapologetically expressive.

My pieces blur the line between fine art and vandalism, refinement and chaos. Each work is intended to provoke emotion while reflecting the pulse of contemporary culture through raw energy, layered storytelling, and luminous detail.

ABOUT

Roxy (also known as Erica Jefferson)  graduated from Ringling College of Art with a BFA degree in Illustration. Shortly after graduating she moved to the NYC area and began a long career working in swimwear and children's fashion for well-known brands such as Target, Walmart, Sears and TJ Maxx. Her work has won several awards and has appeared in multiple publications.

Roxys collage work reflects her long time love of street and graffiti art, drawing inspiration from Keith Harring, Banksy, Mr. Monopoly, Andy Warhol, and Mr. Brainwash. Vibrant color, bold graphics, and neon light are recurring elements in her work which all lend to a raw, gritty street-style execution. She now resides in northern NJ with her three beautiful kids and one awesome husband who are also artists themselves.
